Chandrashekhar Azad, universally recognized as “Raavan,” has emerged as one of the most powerful and revolutionary faces of modern Dalit political mobilization and civil rights defense in India. Born on 3 December 1986 in Chhutanmalpur, Saharanpur, he rose through academic excellence, completing his professional graduation in law from Meerut University. Driven by a desire to confront deep structural discrimination and caste-based violence in western UP, he co-founded the Bhim Army in 2015, launching a highly synchronized network of free schools and fast-response legal aid groups for marginalized Dalit communities. Despite facing intense state surveillance, multi-month preventive detentions, and a high-profile assassination attempt, his grassroots popularity skyrocketed. Establishing the Azad Samaj Party, he contested the Nagina (SC) reserved seat in 2024 without major alliance backing, winning a historic landslide upset victory. In the Lok Sabha, his expert legal background allows him to introduce sharp statutory critiques on civil liberties, federal reservations, and hate-crime monitoring.
