Arup Chakraborty’s long political career is defined by continuous legal advocacy and grassroots district organization within the Bankura red-soil belt. Born on 10 March 1956 in Bankura, he completed his law degree from the University of Calcutta and built an extensive local practice specializing in rural agrarian tenancy laws and cooperative disputes. He was an early asset to the Trinamool Congress’s expansion into Bankura, known for his fiery public speaking and direct village outreach grids. He served with distinction as an MLA, handling district administrative boards. Nominated to claim the Bankura Lok Sabha seat in 2024, he ran a structural campaign focused on irrigation networks to claim victory. In parliament, his presence has highlighted anti-drought infrastructure setups, step-wells, and cottage pottery artisan credit grids. In June 2026, he formally transitioned into the NCPI during the parliamentary split.
